Acid Bronze

This one is the first of the Acid Collection. 

The movement is an original Unitas 6498-1 recovered from an old hunter style pocket watch.  The case was likely scraped for its metal, leaving the movement orphaned.  The movement has been cleaned, oiled and regulated by Respektive and is keeping good time, well within 1 minute a day.  The finish is a stunning gold tone but a few hints of decay remain, giving more interest.

Cased up in a stainless steel bronze plated case with sapphire crystals both front and back.  The case back is solid stainless steel.  The case is 43.5 mm wide (49.5 with the crown).  56mm lug to lug.  The large and grooved crown makes winding and setting the movement smooth even with gloved hands.

The hands are a pencil style finished in rose gold that compliment the bronze case.

The dial is handmade by Respektive.  The design is computer rendered.  The dial blank was struck from a piece scrap aluminum.  The computer image transferred to the dial using heat and pressure.  Then it is immersed in a blend of sulfuric acid to etch away the design.  Again, it's exposed to heat and a corrosion accelerant added to blacken the metal.  This process gives shades of black grey and hints of bronze.  The result is a unique, an imperfect, rugged look with a feeling of decay.  The design is then hand painted and lacquered.  This dial has some strong bronze - brown tones that look amazing.

Included is a 22mm brown oil tanned leather strap with a black pin buckle.  This strap material changes color as it flexes, giving it a vintage feel.
